Today, after a false start involving ej's desperate need for a nap, we wandered down to pike place for a trip to the toy store and the craft festival there. We only had a few minutes before the fair was packing up, which was ok given the sun beating down. I certainly got more sun than I should have.

Its wonderful to have the luxury of just walking to such an event. Being in the city is great with many possibilities.

Cassie (the younger of the two cats) can be a jealous kitty.  Example:

I was giving Kish some attention, which doesn't happen as often as I would like because she is quite shy whenever EJ is around.  Cassie, seeing this, gets up from her comfortable spot on the other side of the room and walks over.  When she gets in front of me, between Kish and I, she stretches tall and luxiuriously ("look at me!") and then walks slowly past - but only far enough so as to allow her to sit directly on my hand, her body facing away from me and cranes her head back at me ("what"?).

After this, Kish and Cassie both enjoy a little bit of attention, but its not too long before Cassie's little passive aggressive maneuver makes Kish uncomfortable and she walks off.  Cassie settles in for more belly rubs, but I snub her and come over to post this little interaction.

<ej> "Dada, do you want any hot cocoa?"
<me> "No, thank you."

ej turns almost immediately

<me> conversationally.  "How are you?"

ej hesitates

<ej> "I'm ok dada"

ej runs from the room and I can hear him in the next room

<ej> "Mama, Dada didn't want *any* cocoa"


Mission accomplished, kiddo.  Even with potential distractions.

EJ and I went to the roof to look around. There is a dog walk there and someone came out to walk their dog. The owner said to EJ: "do you want to pet him?" EJ responds (with no guidance from me): "Hey, you have a dog. What is the name of your dog?"

I have opened about half my minis at this point, which have been packed at moved and moved again and shuffled frequently, etc. And there has been *no* damage seen yet - even to minis with long thing spears.
